Lumecca IPL Treatment

The key to looking healthy and young is good skin without any skin issues.

As we age, sun spots, spider veins, rough skin, rosacea, and other skin issues appear, making us look older and detracting from our appearance. In other cases, we have freckles or acne scars that we would just like to finally get rid of. Luckily, there is a brand-new solution to solve these problems while enhancing, rejuvenating, and revitalizing your skin.

Lumecca Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment is a breakthrough skin therapy that removes dark spots and vascular lesions to restore your skin’s natural radiance. Lumecca is optimized to treat a variety of skin type, skin texture and conditions, with real results often appearing in as little as one session.

Another benefit of IPL photofacial is that collagen production can be boosted significantly, which is very important for skin.

How Does Lumecca IPL Work?

Lumecca IPL is a safe, non-surgical treatment to repair damaged skin. The system is FDA approved to treat Fitzpatrick Skin types I-IV, which means it can treat anything from very pale light skin up to light brown skin.

Lumecca treatment uses pulsing light technology to penetrate the skin and slightly stress damaged areas. In response to that stress, your body’s own natural healing mechanism repairs the damage, renews the skin, and improves overall facial aesthetics.

How is Lumecca IPL Different?

There are many pulsed-light treatments on the market. Lumecca treatment is special because you can achieve results in as little as 1 to 2 sessions compared to the 4 to 6 sessions other systems require to produce similar results.

The secret lies in the advanced technology of the Lumecca treatment. Compared to other intense pulsed light systems, Lumecca uses 3x more energy, has a larger spot diameter, and pulses at a much higher rate. In other words, you get more results in a lot less time.

Another key feature is the sapphire cooling tip on the device, which cools your skin during treatment and eliminates the need for topical anesthetic. Which means no needles required in IPL photofacial!

  Wrinkles reduction

  Age spots removal

What Areas Can Be Treated

Lumecca IPL is safe to use over the entire body for getting rid of age spots, brown spots and stretch marks. Typically, patients are most interested in improving skin texture of the face and hands because these areas are usually visible and receive the most sun exposure. Other common areas of concern include the neck, décolletage, legs, and arms.

How Do I Prepare for Treatment?

Before you begin, you will have a consultation with one of our highly trained clinicians to assess the condition of your skin and discuss any concerns you may have. Next, your clinician will develop a treatment plan specifically tailored for you.

As the procedure is non-invasive, there is not much preparation required. The most important thing is to avoid tanning or spending a lot of time in the sun for at least a month prior to treatment. We want your skin to be as light as possible to maximize the penetrating effect of the light pulses.

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

The whole procedure is quite simple.

First, your treating aesthetician will give you a pair of goggles to protect your eyes. Next, she will apply a cooling gel to your skin. Then she will use the small, hand-held Lumecca device to pulse light onto the problem areas identified during your consultation. You will feel a slight elastic sensation with each pulse.

Depending on your unique treatment needs, the session will last anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. That’s it, you’re done!

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

Most patients experience no side effects and require no downtime. Immediately after your IPL photofacial treatment session at our IPL Boston clinic, you will notice a little redness and a warm sensation in treated areas, similar to a mild sunburn. This will last for about an hour and then you will be back to normal.

Avoid using any skincare products or makeup immediately following treatment, except for aloe vera or sunblock. Again, treat it like you just got a little sunburn.

You may also notice the treated areas of your skin are sensitive to sunlight following the procedure. We recommend you avoid tanning or other direct sunlight for a month after treatment.

Remember, the treatment process is two-fold: The light pulses trigger a healing response, then your body does the rest of the work with its own healing process. Even with simple laser hair removal, you need some time. So, we recommend that after facial rejuvenation, take some time before opting for any other cosmetic procedure. Don’t disrupt your healing process by further stressing your skin!

When Should I Expect to See Results?

During the first few days following IPL photo rejuvenation treatment, you will first see your pigmented spots darkening. Don’t worry, this just means the healing process is working! Within a week, the pigmented lesions will raise up, then flake off, revealing healthy, rejuvenated skin. You should see final results within 2 to 3 weeks.

For vascular lesions and spider veins, you may notice that the facial veins appear bruised and swollen before they fade away. They may also blanch or otherwise change color. This is perfectly normal and will dissipate within a few days. Final results should appear within 2 weeks.

For more simple sun damage or skin complexion treatment, results will appear within just a few days. Your skin will continue to look younger and more radiant, with final results appearing after 1 to 2 weeks.

How Many Treatment Sessions Will I Need?

The skin rejuvenation journey for every patient is unique. The number of IPL photorejuvenation treatments required will depend on your specific needs and will be based on a recommendation by your clinician. Factors include the severity of your skin damage, Lumecca’s energy settings, and whether you are dealing with vascular issues or sun damage.

However, most patients experience improved skin in just 1 to 3 sessions. One session will almost certainly produce noticeable improvements, but multIPLe sessions produce the best results.

While in most cases, the removal of pigmentation issues may be long lasting or even permanent, a maintenance session may be advisable every 6 to 12 months following the initial treatment course.
